Iodine flask is a horn-shaped flask with grounded mouth and a glass stopper. The upper mouth is horn-shaped, which can be sealed by pouring water or potassium iodide solution in the experiment, and the stopper is used to prevent the volatilization spillover of the substances in the bottle, so as to make the experiment more accurate.
Mainly used for the determination of iodine value of fat, grease, paraffin, etc.First of all, the sample should be washed and dried, weighed accurately, placed in the iodine flask, the solvent and iodine solution (potassium bromide solution) should be carefully added into the flask, the stopper should be tightened and shaken, and then drop several drops of potassium iodide solution into the wide. Keep in the dark for 30 minutes at 20 - 30℃. and shake constantly so that the measured material (unsaturated substance) and iodine in the sample can be adequately added. At the end of the experiment, the stopper was opened to make the potassium iodide solution of the bottle mouth flow into the bottle and shake (without loss). Then the liquid on the bottle stopper and bottle neck was washed into the bottle with 10% potassium iodide solution of 10 ml and distilled water of 50 ml. With 0.1mol/L sodium thiosulfate solution, the mixture was titrated rapidly and shaken sufficiently to change from dark to yellow. A starch indicator of 1ml to 1% was added to the mixture. When the titration reached the end point, the solution was forced to oscillate until the blue disappeared. At the same time, a blank test, the milliliter of sodium thiosulfate consumed reduce the blank sample consumed and calculate the gram of iodine consumed by the sample, which is the iodine value of the sample.
